Details

Avon B7 Inflation / Deflation Valves. Of the 3 valves Avon used, this valve is the second one used and can be identified by the 3 pointed star located on the cap.  The B7 is identical to the A7 in its inner workings. It offers all the advantages of the A7 but provides a lower and a more snag free design. Its rounded mushroom shaped cap fits close to the chamber. It clamps directly to the chamber material so it does not require a mounting boot to be glued in. Requires no routine maintenance. Color is gray.  (Avon Part #B7V).  Avon uses 3 different valves (A7, B7, C7), please choose your valve visually and carefully. For valve repair kits, see related products below.

Replacing the B7 Valve with a C7 Valve .

You will need :

Razor Knife

C7 Valve

C7 Valve Wrench

Hypalon Patching Material

Two Part Adhesive

Before you begin, keep in mind that the inflatable tube opening required for both of the B7 and the C7 valves are very similar.   The first thing to do is make a 3 inch incision in the pontoon near the floor of the boat and in line with the B7 Valve.   Holding the exterior portion of the valve (valve cap side), reach into the tube through the incision and grab the inner base of the B7 Valve.   While holding the exterior portion of the valve, unscrew the inner base of the B7 valve by turning it counter clock wise. Remove and discard both portions of the B7 valve.

Unscrew the base of the C7 valve. Take the base of the C7 in one hand, reach into the through the incision and line the base of the C7 valve up with the hole from the removed A7/B7 valve,   using your free hand, screw the exterior portion of the C7 valve into the C7 Base.   Tight firmly using the C7 valve wrench.

Patch the incision with fabric and a two part adhesive per the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions.
