Details

Avon A7 Inflation / Deflation Valves. Of the 3 valves used by Avon, this valve is of the earliest vintage and can be identified by the 2 "nubs" located on either side of the cap.   Widely respected for its durability and simplicity of design. Provides rapid inflation and deflation with a simple 90° turn of the center spindle. This as well as all other Leafield valves are extremely rugged and require no routine maintenance. May be used both with the recessed mounting boot or without using the optional pressure ring. Color is gray. (Avon Part #A7V).  Avon uses 3 different valves (A7, B7, C7), please choose your valve visually and carefully. Buy 4 or more and save $1.50 each.  For valve repair kits, please see related products below.

Replacing the A7 Valve with a C7 Valve .

You will need :

Razor Knife

C7 Valve

C7 Valve Wrench

Hypalon Patching Material

Two Part Adhesive

Before you begin, keep in mind that the inflatable tube opening required for both of the A7 and the C7 valves are very similar.   The first thing to do is make a 3 inch incision in the pontoon near the floor of the boat and in line with the A7 Valve.   Holding the exterior portion of the valve (valve cap side), reach into the tube through the incision and grab the inner base of the A7 Valve.   While holding the exterior portion of the valve, unscrew the inner base of the A7 valve by turning it counter clock wise. Remove and discard both portions of the A7 valve.

Unscrew the base of the C7 valve. Take the base of the C7 in one hand, reach into the through the incision and line the base of the C7 valve up with the hole from the removed A7/B7 valve,   using your free hand, screw the exterior portion of the C7 valve into the C7 Base.   Tight firmly using the C7 valve wrench.

Patch the incision with fabric and a two part adhesive per the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions.
